Last weekend, our EA lab had the wonderful opportunity to join the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., as they hosted a Men’s Brain Health and Wellness Event! The event offered free health screenings, vaccines, and fitness education sessions to empower men’s wellness. It was such a great event!

Healthy Aging Workshop Series Engaged Aging’s Yolanda Jackson (right) kicked off this years’ presentations at First Baptist Church Frankfort speaking about Healthier Soul Food options! Carla Carter (left) of UK Family and Consumer Sciences Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office, shared with us the nutritional benefits and differences in various cooking oils like avocado and olive (because don’t we all really wonder that?). And of course, the always talented Maranda Brooks (center) of Fayette County Cooperative Extension brought the music, movement & dance for all, with her ever-popular drumming stix! All of this helped to encourage lifestyle change through eating practices…

We had an amazing time meeting everyone at the Aging in Nelson County Senior Resource Fair, June 6th, 2023! Yolanda Jackson, registered Dietitian, graced us with her brain healthy nutrition knowledge & we shared so many smiles with new friends that were so excited about our sensory approach to care partners’ needs throughout the dementia process.

We had such a blast with Maranda Brooks’ drumming movement class (UK Fayette County Cooperative Extension Family & Consumer Sciences) and even caught Bellarmine Physical Therapy jamming along while helping us learn to monitor our heart rates! What an amazing hands-on opportunity to get heart healthy at First Baptist Church Frankfort.
